7:00 Depature from University Santa Maria

We will take the “orilla Itata” route, going through the south bank of the Itata Rivers, which gives the name to the oldest wine valley in Chile. We will stop at the historical bridge over the river at Ñipas. Then, we will continue to Portezuelo, in the middle of the Itata Valley, in the agroecological area of interior dryland to visit a traditional vineyard and winery.

9:00-11:00 Visit to Winery in Portezuelo

12:00-13:00 Visit to Bank of Microbial Genetic Resources at INIA-Quilamapu in Chillán.

Lunch will be on the go

14:00-15:30 Visit to Agricola Las Acacias Farm.

Located in the agroecological area of the central valley. The farm grows Hazelnut, Cherry, and Blueberry, among others.

From Agrícola Las Acacias will take the route to the andes mountains by the north bank of the Ñuble River. We expect to arrive at our destination in “Los Puquios”, San Fabian commune (place of birth of the famous Chilean poet Nicanor Parra) around 16:30 h. For those that like adventure, we are planning a short excursion to the Ñuble river, where you can do some swiming. We will end the trip with a traditional “asado” (barbecue) with an spectacular view of the Andes. We expect to departure around 20:00, arriving in Concepción around 22:00.
